Path of Exile 2 0.5.5 Forbidden Rites Campaign Ritual Farming Guide

Forbidden Rites gives Path of Exile 2 players a new reason to pay attention to Rituals during the campaign. Every campaign area now has a Ritual encounter, so you can pick up extra currency and gear while leveling instead of waiting until endgame.

The important thing is not to treat every Ritual as mandatory. If you stop for everything, your campaign can become much slower. The better approach is to clear the encounters that fit naturally into your route and save your time for the high-value boss Rituals.

Prioritize Boss Rituals

The best Rituals to clear are the special boss encounters shown as Ritual Effigy clusters on the World Map. These appear twice per Act and once during each Interlude. Unlike normal Rituals, the Effigies are tied directly to area bosses.

These encounters are worth planning around because the boss carries into the next Ritual in the chain. After defeating the first boss, you will face it again alongside another boss in the following encounter. The number of bosses keeps increasing until the final stage of the chain.

This is where the biggest campaign Ritual payoff comes from. Normal Rituals are mainly useful for leveling currency and equipment, while completing a boss chain can open a Tribute reward selection containing Unique items.

If a boss Ritual is close to your normal route, clear it every time. Even if it adds a few minutes, the potential reward makes it much more worthwhile than wandering around for ordinary loot.

Normal Rituals: Clear or Skip?

For regular Rituals, use a simple rule: clear it if it is convenient.

If the Effigy is close to your current path and your character can kill the monsters quickly, there is little reason to skip it. Early in the campaign, a useful rare weapon, resistance item, movement-speed boots, or crafting currency can make the next several zones noticeably easier.

This is also a good way to build up some POE2 Currency without stopping your campaign to run a separate farming route.

However, skip Rituals that force you to backtrack through half of a zone. If you have already passed the area, your build is comfortable, and the reward is unlikely to change your gear, continuing toward the next objective is usually the better choice.

How to Handle Stacked Bosses

The final boss Rituals are much more dangerous than normal encounters because several bosses can overlap their attacks.

Do not rush into the center and try to burst everything immediately. Start by moving around the outside of the Ritual area. This gives you more room to react and makes it easier to separate bosses.

When one boss begins a large telegraphed attack, move first and attack second. Greeding for another cast or combo is rarely worth taking a huge hit.

For melee characters, use short damage windows. Move in, unload your strongest attacks, then reposition before the next boss ability lands. Do not stay locked onto one target while another boss is preparing an attack behind you.

Ranged characters have more freedom, but should still keep moving. Try to create space between bosses instead of allowing several enemies to stack directly on top of your position.

The final stages are about controlled damage rather than maximum burst. Staying alive saves more time than squeezing out another few seconds of DPS.

When You Should Skip

There are three easy reasons to skip a normal Ritual: it requires major backtracking, your gear is already strong, or the encounter is slowing down your progress toward the next campaign objective.

You should be much less willing to skip boss Rituals. Their chained structure gives them a much higher potential value, especially when you are trying to find an early Unique that can define or significantly improve your build.

Also remember that campaign Rituals are designed to support leveling rather than replace normal progression. Use them to fix weak gear, not as an excuse to clear every monster on the map.

Best Campaign Routine

A good Forbidden Rites routine is straightforward:

Clear convenient normal Rituals. Prioritize every boss cluster. Skip long detours. Spend Tribute on upgrades that immediately improve your character.

If a Ritual gives you a strong weapon or defensive upgrade, take it and keep moving. If the reward pool is weak, do not force yourself to spend Tribute just because you earned it.

The goal is to reach the endgame with better gear and extra resources while keeping your leveling speed healthy. If your economy is still behind after the campaign, you can always look at ways to buy POE2 Currency later, but efficient Ritual routing should already give a fresh character a solid start.
